Get Finland Moving programme

The Get Finland Moving programme promotes the physical activity of the population in a phenomenon-oriented way through measures taken by different administrative sectors of the government ministries. The measures relate to the development of physical activity culture, physical activity counselling, conditions of physical activity, know-how related to physical activity and taxation that encourages people to exercise.

The Get Finland Moving programme is divided into two areas. The aim of the first area is for the structures of society to create ever better conditions for exercising. The second area aims to bring about changes in the behaviour of people and communities so that they increasingly make a conscious or unconscious choice to be physically active – i.e. use the structures created for being physically active. The second area also relates to the fact that at organisational level, there is a growing desire to take more and more action to promote physical activity.

The Get Finland Moving programme is part of Prime Minister Petteri Orpo’s government goal of increasing the physical activity of every age group. The cross-governmental, government-level programme is coordinated by the Ministry of Education and Culture.
